I.F.S Poonch

SG1 Used in combination with an East India Queen Victoria card to Amritsur. The address being very faint/rubbed out.

1888 Offical SG04 2a black on white laid batonne , irregular block of 50 on paper with spaces ruled for a 4 a value. The desire to save paper has led to the spaces being ignored except in the bottom two rows, giving 5 rows of 8 and 2 rows of 7 stamps. (NB positive and negative impressions of the 'Under Quarter Tola' paper makers seal at the lower left). A bizarre and spectacular piece of considerable rarity.

1884-87 SG 55var. 1p Red on Blue wove batonne, irregular unused block of 40 on paper ruled with spaces in pencil. 13 stamps are printed inverted - giving 7 tete-beche pairs!! The Veldman collection had a single such pair.

1884-87 SG 32 & 32a, 1p Red on Orange buff wove batonne. With the top two rows printed sideways creating six examples of SG 32a.

Group of poonch covers.
